Blog

15th June 2022

Summer has arrived and we can’t wait to get out into the garden and enjoy a nice BBQ with friends and family. But is your garden summer-ready?

Here are a few tips to shape up your garden ready for your summer events:

  • Add or Change your borders

The borders of your garden are a great way to get your garden ready for summer. Use a hose pipe to map out where you’d like them to go to make sure you’re happy with your new design before you start digging.

  • Replace or Repaint your fence

Giving your fence a new lease of life can be a quick and budget-friendly way to give your garden a new look, whether you paint it or go for a completely new design. You can dramatically change the look and feel of your garden with this improvement.

  • Clean up your garden furniture

There is no doubt over the winter that your garden furniture will have gathered some creepy crawlies and some unwanted guests. Make sure to give them a good clean, including cushion covers. For any wooden furniture, you can reoil it to give it a shine.

  • Extend your seating area

Whether you have decking or a patio, installing or extending your seating area will give you a fresh and bigger seating area for you to host family and friends. You could put in a bigger table for every to sit and eat around or bigger comfier chairs. Depending on the size of your garden this might take away from areas for activities for the kids. So take care not to go too far!

  • Refresh your plants

With the lack of sunlight and cold temperatures of the winter, chances are your plants and shrubs have had better days. Give them a refresh, whether you need to replace them or just give them some attention. This will add vibrancy to your garden and your guests will notice.

  • Consider a water feature

Adding a water feature to your garden is a fantastic way to stand out from your neighbours. There are many levels you can do this, whether you add a stand-alone feature or go for a more integrated such as a pond. Either will add a great sense of peace and tranquillity for those summer evenings.

  • Lighting

Adding lighting to your garden can transform those late evenings with a low glow and keep the fun going for longer. There are many options you can choose from to enhance your garden. This could be lights illuminating your walkways or fairy lights around your seating areas. The only problem might be your guests might not want to leave!

These are just a few things you can do to enhance the look and feel of your garden, taking a couple of these changes can make a massive difference to your garden and overall enjoyment of the summer.
